Folly - Taking Digital Arts to Much Wider New Audience - (19/04/06)

Folly, the media arts organisation has selected Pixel to help them define a technical and content strategy for a new distributed node media network.

The projects aim is to take media arts into areas that typically would not be associated with such material, including the high street and potentially remote rural areas in Lancashire and Cumbria.

Pixel was selected based on our broad knowledge and experience of technology for media. The primary role is to assist Folly and their artists with the definition of technical requirements and subsequently assist with the selection and commissioning of a suitable distribution and playback platform.

Nikk Smith, Technical Director, comments "This is an interesting project because the requirements of new media arts are inherently fluid and certainly more wide ranging that your typical kiosk or digital signage project. Our main aim is to ensure that Folly secures a suitable platform in a short timescale while allowing for growth and extension as new work is commissioned".
