Bunzl Australia & New Zealand were looking for a solution to manage their existing customer and employee communication displays across 25 warehouse and office sites throughout Australia and New Zealand. They had been managing the content on a small number of pilot screens using USB sticks and PowerPoint presentations and had realised that they needed a better system that would scale and provide them with the ability to remotely manage and update content, including live data.
We worked with the team to understand the types of content and data that they needed to communicate and began a design process to create a series of content templates. After these were approved, we went on to the integration phase, where data silos were identified and processed mapped to extract the data using methods and a schedule that would be appropriate and have no impact on the production systems. Warehouse operations critical data, such as pick lines and put away rates per hour were aggregated with sales data to provide offices with an overview of localised business units sales vs targets. Graphing scripts were created that automatically retrieve the data and present it in a manner that provided for simple audience perception.
In addition to the core business templates, we created a series of more personal infotainment animations, allowing the company to congratulate new starters, staff birthdays and anniversaries. The system was also built to allow for real time company update broadcasts.
The system now operates on a largely autonomous basis, keeping staff and visitors updated with relevant, localised and up to the minute information across several office and warehouse sites.
