Digital windows, projection, and LED solutions across a varied store estate
Kiehl’s is an American cosmetics brand that specialises in premium quality skin, hair, and body care products. Since 2000 Kiehl’s have been part of the larger L’Oreal Group and as of 2018 they have over 250 retail stores worldwide with over 1000 additional points of sale.
We began working with this luxury brand in early 2015, providing all their digital display solutions, content services and ongoing support for their Monmouth Street store in London. As the estate expanded, the client looked to us for ideas and inspiration to elevate the window and in-store digital delivery.
With each new store opening, we worked closely with the client and their various store design experts to implement new digital solutions. One example is our innovative ‘lift and learn’ product developed and personalised for Kiehl’s in several stores.
The lift and learn solution allows customers to pick up a product and learn more about it, through content triggered on a display. It combines digital display technology, interactive touch solutions and great point of purchase design to produce a truly outstanding in-store marketing tool. Each implementation of the solution has been different, with one using a 32” touchscreen and 4 10” displays all powered by a single Scala media player.
The large touchscreen allows Kiehl’s customers to explore the range of products while the smaller satellite screens display product relevant information and complimentary animations. When a Kiehl’s customer picks up a display product, the screens all switch from playing ambient or generic product information to content relevant to the chosen product.
Not only does this provide the customer with a wealth of Kiehl’s product information but also acts as a fantastic piece of retail theatre to grab the attention of any onlookers. A second version utilises an 86” 4K portrait display with shelving designed to sit in front of the digital canvas, with customer ‘lifts’ triggering sub-animations within the physical vicinity of the product in question.
When the brand opens new locations, we deliver the digital assets, including high brightness window displays, in-store laser projection and large format LED facades, as per the most recent store at Kiehl’s Liverpool Street. All content is managed on behalf of Kiehl’s by Pixel while our support team monitors the estate and provides seven-day-a-week help desk facilities. As of January 2020, we have installed across more than 45 Kiehl’s locations in the UK and Europe, with new projects upcoming.
